C and B Learning Center is a friendly learning environment that prepares young minds for school readiness. Christian songs and prayer are also included in our daily routine, but not forced upon them by parent`s request.

 We use research based (GELDS) Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards as the curriculum tool for the state of Georgia.  The purpose of the GELDS is to promote quality learning experiences for children birth to four and Pre-k age children. This program is designed to meet the needs of all children. These standards foster skills to develop the child`s behaviors, and concepts that children develop throughout this time of life. The strands are divided into age groups for convenience and serve as a framework for learning.

     These standards are divided into five domains:

• Physical Development and Motor Skills

• Social and Emotional Development

• Approaches to Play and Learning

• Communication, Language and Literacy

• Cognitive Development and General Knowledge (math)

With my educational background, I can develop lessons and skills to meet the individual child were they are. These skills will develop physical and fine motor skills that control the child`s movement of the head, back, arms and legs.

The social and emotional development lessons will teach the importance of self-awareness.  While learning these skills, the child will learn how to get along with others. I encourage the child to use these skills that include self-expression, self-control, helping others, and developing a positive relationship with their peers.

The approach to play and learning is important because it allows the child to engage in creativity, pretend play and sharing. I like this activity because the children will transform into positive role models, develop social skills, and share during this time. The child is always in continuous learning mode during play time.

The Communication, Language and Literacy development address the way the child communicates with sounds, words, and gestures is the beginning development for reading and writing. These skills require both verbal and nonverbal behaviors. During this phase, I encourage the child to use one and two-word phrase commands. I also teach letter recognition, which includes recognizing their name and writing during this stage.  I use Cheerios and dotted lines to trace and write their name.

Cognitive Development and General Knowledge (math) is used with children to represent the knowledge of numbers and the quantity. I create activities for the child to identify numbers using objects or pictures to complete the activity. This skill determines math readiness and understanding of numbers. I will increase the activity once the skill is mastered by the child.
